FEATURED ARTIST · THE LIVE PAINTING EXPERIENCE

POST IT PAT
PAINTS THE WHOLE
FORTY NIGHTS.

Patricc Reed — the anti-artist artist — is the resident artist of The Final Countdown. You put on headphones. He picks up a brush. The music goes in, the painting comes out, and the whole thing happens in front of you in real time. Forty nights, forty pieces, nothing planned in advance.

FOUR SHOWS, NOT ONE

LOCK HIM IN A ROOM
AND YOU GET FOUR SHOWS.

The live painting thing already goes hard on its own. Across forty nights it becomes a rotating format — so nobody sees the same show twice and the room always has a reason to come back tomorrow.

01
SILENT CANVAS
Headphones on. 40 people, one playlist, zero talking.

Everyone in the room hears the same track through headphones while Pat paints to it. No crowd noise, no bar chatter — just breathing and brush. The painting is the only thing anyone is allowed to look at.

02
LIVE WITH KENNY
Kenny McCormick IV plays. Pat paints what he hears.

Full band, full volume, one canvas. Kenny plays a set nobody has heard and Pat responds in paint in real time. The finished piece gets signed by both of them and goes up on the wall before the room empties.

03
THE QUESTION PIECE
One night's question becomes one painting.

Whatever the day's public question is — what is hemp, who built this, what happens tomorrow — Pat answers it on canvas while the conversation happens behind him. Forty questions, forty answers, no words.

04
PIP AFTER DARK
Perspective. Intuition. Passion. Late and loose.

The 21-and-over version. DJ or vinyl, longer set, the crowd calls out what goes on the canvas and Pat decides which ones deserve it. This is where the good footage comes from.

THE PROMO ENGINE

HIS BRAND DRIVES IT.
OURS RIDES ALONG.

Post It Pat already moves through cities the old-fashioned way — in person, in traffic, on foot, with the work visible. That's the promotion. We put the countdown on it and let him do what he does.

  • 01The van, the ladder and the Post It Pat marks stay exactly as they are — our campaign marks ride alongside them, never over them.
  • 02Post It Pat is the promo engine on the ground: he drives it, parks it, paints on it and people follow it. That has worked before and it works here.
  • 03Co-branded posters for every one of the forty nights — his hand, our clock, the day's question printed on it.
  • 04Every finished piece gets photographed, dated and posted the same night: forty nights, forty drops, one running archive.
  • 05Limited co-branded merch — poster runs and shirts pulled from the actual paintings, not from a template.
  • 06He keeps his brand, his rights and his prints. We amplify it, we don't absorb it.

THE DOWNLOAD,
SENT AT FULL SPEED.

This is the actual message that started The Final Countdown — sent from Asheville, two days in, before there was a plan, a page or a poster. Nothing here has been cleaned up into strategy. It's the download.

You won't even believe what's happening, but you will. I ended up at a developer's house here — kind of like the wild guy I met in Venice. He owns a farm. He owns buildings. A house on the coolest street near the coolest street in town, and a property that got demolished in Helene called Camp Driftwood.

There's going to be a 40-night celebration as the clock counts down on cannabis. It starts October 31 on Halloween. On December 11 this is illegal — so we celebrate the last forty days here in Billy Graham's hometown. It's a revival.

I found the wildest creation station. It's a demolished place and he goes, we'll just put a roof on it for live shows. Dude. And a house we could live in for a month. The wildest thing Asheville has seen — a mini version of what I did in Venice, and it goes all around the news.

Willie Nelson. RAW rolling papers. Spiritual Plants. Franny's Farmacy. Pure Beauty. Stereo Flower. Those are the cannabis sponsors. There'll be films — we show The Deer Trail. There's a vinyl room next door to the cannabis lounge in town, run by the first woman to ever grow hemp in North Carolina, and this guy owns that building. I've been in both places today. So it's a little bit of the Camp Mary installation.

I know how to do church revivals. Billy Graham came to my town and I watched it. I know how to rally all the people and all the weird things here and bring them into one room. It's so easy it's stupid.

And now we're up against the government shutting it down, so Start With I Love You is the driving point. We're not here to protest. It's: in case this really is illegal — how do you grow it? How do you do this? A guest every day with something to say. Jackson captures all of it. It's probably the second documentary. The first one is The Deer Trail — Kenny is the true line, and it backfills the whole story from Sedona. This one follows it as the Start With I Love You project.

December 11, the final night, I want Kenny playing with Europe. The band Europe. They've played that room before. Best music venue in town, and every other room is small except that last night — Kenny McCormick and Europe playing The Final Countdown.

The live cannabis thing you're doing — the Kenny show — goes hard. I think it's even more powerful with a live performance instead of only headphones. If you two got locked in a room you'd come out with a few different shows. Here's the headphone one, here's the live one. And you've got forty nights, so you don't only do the Kenny show. We do all the branding and promotion around Post It Pat and bring that with us.

That's what's coming. It all opened up in the last two days. That's why I'm here.
